SETTING & SURROUNDING AREA
“Les Baleines” is set amidst the sloping Maanskyn
mountains and the blue ocean of the Atlantic, one of the most
scenic areas in South Africa and one of the world’s most
famous areas for Whale watching. The whales come so close to
shore, you can almost touch them. The majestic Maanskyn (Moonshine)
Mountains are but a stone’s throw from hiking paths for
either the adventurous or simply an easy evening stroll.
All the beaches are within a 3-minute stroll.
Beautiful cliff paths line our coast for scenic walks.
We are close to town, approximately 5 minutes by car.
In Hermanus we offer excellent cuisine and there are a variety
of restaurants scattered all over town.
Guests need not be concerned about facilities, Hermanus has
it all; from beauty treatments to art galleries,
museums and we have a lovely 18-hole golf course.
The famous Arabella Spa is only 25 minutes away for a day of
special indulgence.
Our Hemel and Aarde valley has some world-renowned wines and
these estates can be visited by arrangement.
For the not so energetic our beaches are superb and can be enjoyed
at your own leisure.
Ultimate Whale watching organized by Les Baleines
Crayfish charters are also available, after which we will prepare
a sumptuous dinner
with your catch – fish bouillabaisse and crayfish on the
barbecue – all washed down
with a choice of excellent wines from the region. Hikes and
jogging routes can be planned individually.
Cold winter days are our specialty, huge log fires and fine
red wine.
For the more adventurous shark viewing and cage diving can be
arranged.
We also offer secure parking, and airport transfers by arrangement.

is situated next to the swimming pool and sun deck. The atmosphere
is relaxed with spectacular views, where Whale watching can
be enjoyed.

Comfortable reclining deck chairs and separate tables and
